About Brotha ‘n Blue

-Who is BrothaNblue

I got the nick name BrothaNblue from some high school band friends. I have no affiliation with “blue lives matter" or any gang association. I'm simply a mallet player trying to create his own lane as a performer and composer.

-History

I started my mallet percussion journey playing in my high school's percussion ensemble. Later started performing in WGI (WINTER GUARD INTERNATIONAL) and DCI (DRUM CORP INTERNATIONAL) You age out of those activities at the age of 21/22. During that time, I performed with Dojo Percussion, Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, and aged out with Rise Percussion. I was also able to perform with Northglenn Performance Theatre, an all age performing ensemble that no longer exists. I currently teach at two local high schools as a pit instructor and writer.

-Goal

As an age out, I've come to realize something. There are hardly any options for age outs once they leave the activity. Especially mallet players. You could start a jazz group, teach, or by some miracle join Blast, a professional performing ensemble that still remains the only one of it's kind. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and use my own platform to create the ensemble I want to be apart of.
